i kept imagining an old tune i made having a kids playground ambiance when i heard it, so i went and grabbed some samples of kids laughing and singing. i feel it suits the tune well

I really like that, and I agree that kid samples fit it, at the star it sounds like the kids are messing around with the synths
I like the rest of the track too, especially that growly bass. Although I think that kick is a little high, everything ducks behind it too much for my liking. It might be the case that that was what you were going for. Either way, cool track!
I posted this in the other thread but nobody ever responds to my stuff. Can I get any C&C on this? Please?
It's a remix I recently did, I stripped the entire song down to raw vocals and a couple of MIDI files and rebuilt it from the ground up. All synth sounds are mine, including the vocoder hidden behind the vocals.
a hastily recorded doom metal idea
what y'all think?
Still composing. Some of the transitions still aren't there or will be touched up.
Love the opening drums. I think you should add a bit more rhythm to your guitar playing though. Make it more interesting than Strummmmmm.... Strummmmmmm.... If that makes sense.
Gonna cover Skyrim on piano.
Progress. I would love some comments, as I only just recently started composing. Thanks for the help in advance!
Nothing much I can really fault :) The song is really relaxing and uplifting, the only thing I would say is some segments of the song seem a little stretched out.
I think it's because I'm a sucker for correct structure. Intro, breakdown, buildup, climax, outtro all have to have a set amount of bars in my head or else my OCD acts up :P Maybe I can create a little variation to break it up a bit.
Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it.
Made a little new chiptune (xm) last night.
Starpath - Armada
Sell it.
Seriously capsadmin everything you do is absolute gold.
yeah, it does. I think I could change up the rhythm when the drums start, thanks. :)
Ugh, me record cash register at school and me make a shitty music with cash register sound ugh
All the sounds are from a cash register
The cash register made a humming sound that now makes it a little muddy, any tips on that?
Edited:
Now when I listen to it with headphones it sounds like I recorded those sounds with a sandwich![]()
Eq/filter out the humming sound?
Edited:
Not for every 'instrument'/element though. Just for the parts that you feel make it sound muddy
Humming sounds are usually low frequency and can be fixed with a high pass filter. Really, you should put a high pass filter on most everything, it'll ensure a solid low end.
Good stuff mate. What do you use for samples?
Pure square-, saw-, and some random waves I've drawn.
The higher quality samples, namely the drums and pads, are taken from various xm files I've downloaded.
Here's my MIDI boss battle song I've been working on lately.
Edited:
one more
Djent midi go
first crack at ableton.
thoughts?
Take a few more cracks.
And add some glitchy percussion stuff would go great with this
I like it.
Made this some time ago. I never know how to go on with my stuff. I know about the hats (they're going at a machine rate atm).
Want your opinion on this , guys
I like this quite a lot, it's got that nice electro-bassy atmosphere to it, the only thing I can really suggest is that the hat may be one or two notches too loud.
Also here is something I started last night that I felt has some good potential
If you do this while listening to the offending track in situ, you'll be surprised how high up in the frequency range you can take the high pass before you actually hear it.
It can seriously tighten up a fuddled low-end.
WIP Remix:
Drop is pretty lame, working on this.
A popular thing to do if you have a kick clap pattern is to move the clap a veery little bit before the kick so it sort of leads into it. Then you can also sidechain the clap for a pretty modern electro sound

so I updated my doom song a bit
Changed the first and second riff around a bit. Also added an intro.
How are the changes? Should I keep this version or some aspects of the previous one were better?
Some variations, WIP, etc.
Just another chiptune:
Why isn't there a thread for finished material?
Someone ought to make one.
The sound of you sliding your fingers on the strings hurts my ears :(
It's a damn shame, because I really like the guitar. Especially the intro!
Why did you change the snare in the last part? It sounds terrible. Other than that, it's pretty good.
I don't really like chiptune music, but this is pretty damn good. The cymbal at the start is way too loud though.
NOW it's time for my song! :D
Yeah, that annoys me aswell. How do I fix that? :/
Tried my luck at some shitty reggae
Edited:
The drums sound fantastic! I think it's having sex with my subwoofer..
heyy, anyone got any advice about this? :)
(there is a mix 19 but i think it may be worse haha)
thanks! :)
Aha, I didn't realize that I had not updated my beat pattern in my playlist.
Added some variations, namely just moving the second measure of the build-up up an octave.
I just composed my first 30 seconds of proper MIDI music in anvil studio. So far there's no bass track as I plan on doing that last, but what do you guys think so far?

It's a doom-style metal track. One issue I'm having is that I can't seem to get the guitars to have very much...well, "Punch" to them. Anything I'm doing wrong here?
Uploading your song to mediafire. Maybe It's just me, but I usually won't listen to a song if I have to download it. I realize many people are the same way, so when I upload my midi songs, I first export them and them upload them to my soundcloud so I can stream it.
As far as your question regarding punch, you want to use power chords. Sounds like you're using octaves. A power chord is 7 semitones up from the root and is very common. Here, I made an example with your bit there.

I'm not sure how you're composing, but you'll a way to memorize what a power chord looks like.
How to make midi guitars fatter:
1) Make two guitar tracks. One with 29 - Overdriven Guitar and the other with 30 - Distorted Guitar
2) Pan them heavily to the left and right respectively.
3) They can either play the same notes or make one of the tracks a harmony (typically just the upper third in Doom music).
4) Add a bass track!
Thanks, I'll use this for future reference.
Ah, the panning is what I was doing wrong! Thank you so much!
