Evo got the 2.2 update today, but then was pulled from HTC's servers, should be able to find it somewhere else though.
I have a Motorola CLIQ. Not the slim XT one though. I'm not sure which version it's using.
The MyTouch never got 2.1 officially? I thought it did. Then can the OP add the Eris to 2.2 than cause there are 2.2 roms for it
Whoops, mis-read that for a second, forget my edit
You are missing out alot of phones on the android version list
I'm soon going to get an HTC Desire do they come with the new superlcd? also is there soon froyo for it?
I've been wanting to get an Droid or the like for sometime, But I detest the monthly fee's for everything.

What do people think of the Motorola Backflip?
I want to get a droid but I'm stuck with AT&T. I already know about the no third party apps installing and the yahoo search but there are a few workarounds to that.
I'm looking to get a new phone, currently on a caveman flipphone. Anyone know the differences between the Droid X and the Droid Incredible, / which is better? Aside from being from different manufacturers, of course.
X also has a 16:9 aspect ratio which is better for pretty much everything. better for movies and 16:9 media (see: everything), better for web browsing (it's either wider or taller depending on the orientation), and navigating menus is better (taller means more can be seen).
Incredible is on snapdragon which is quite overrated, the OMAP the droid x uses is very zippy and the most powerful for computations right now. the difference between it and the Galaxy S series, if you were wondering, is the Galaxy S series is exceedingly more powerful with graphics than the Droid X, and the Droid X is more powerful with calculations and CPU related shit
If it's not against the rules to ask, does anyone have an apk of Swype for 480x320 devices? I'm running Android on my iPod and I'd rather use Swype than the Android keyboard. If not, can anyone recommend any decent keyboard replacements that work on 1.6?
Similarly, could anyone please go to the Market, download twicca (if you don't already have it) and backup and upload its .apk? It's a free app, and I have access to the Market, but for some reason I can only download a bogus (current version + 1) version that doesn't start, doesn't have a logo and isn't listed anywhere on the internet.
Evo is a great device but it's highly overrated.
well right now the two greatest android phones (of those that are well known and/or carried by popular carriers) in the US are really just the Droid X and the Evo.
and really i asked some woman who was talking on a Droid X what she thought and she was like "IT DOES EVERYTHING IT'S GREAT" and at the time i sort of wanted one and was all excited and asked "cool cool like what amazes you about it?" "I CAN BROWSE THE WEB"
i guess, because of the advertising campaign, the basic features the phone comes with account toward "everything".
anyway my point is a phone is only as popular and successful as its marketing. both the Evo and the Droid X have some serious ego stroking marketing.
(of those that are well known and/or carried by popular carriers)
Galaxy S hardly has any coverage, AT&T is too busy pushing iPhones to give a shit about other phones, and T-Mobile just has too many smartphones for it to really matter.
Nexus One has never really been mentioned anywhere outside of tech blogs or tech sites. and again T-Mobile has too many smartphones as it is for them to have an advertisement saying "HEY LOOK WE HAVE ANOTHER SMARTPHONE" and have the public really care about it
also the nexus one is pretty much unbuyable right now, isn't it? Google ran out, isn't going to order more, and supposedly T-Mobile is the only carrier you can buy it from now and I don't even see it on the website
the thing with Galaxy S:
it'll gain more momentum when Sprint gets theirs out. the reason being they're going to advertise the living shit out of it. Verizon isn't going to because it's not part of their stupid elite Droid series. you know, the Droid "series", the reason average Joes all think the Eris and Incredible are at all related to the Droid. doesn't mean anything other than the manufacturer came to them and was like "hey yeah i got this great ass phone advertise the shit out of it have a dick load of money and pay me later" see unless Samsung at the last minute is like "wait a minute hey verizon slap Droid on the name here's a bunch of dough thanks", Verizon is still going to keep their advertising focused on the Droid X.
with T-Mobile, they have too many android phones as it is for it to really make any difference as in a week or two they'll be advertising another, and the advertisement would be small anyway, mentioning "Samsung Vibrant" at the very end of an ad, for example.
with AT&T, as mentioned, the iPhone is really their top priority. it's what pulls in the money. every other phone from AT&T for the last 2-3 years has had pretty lame advertising compared to the ads from both them and Apple for the iPhone.
does any of that make sense?
I'm on a boat right now I'll do it later.
Oh wow, ajax quick reply works on my droid.
Froyo for the desire is comming after this weekend in the Netherlands.
Already out in UK :smug:
Now I just need the phone :sigh:
I'm still waiting for Rogers to push the update for my HTC Magic so I can at least get 2.1. At first it was early summer, I think now they expect some time in August...
