Why buy a tactical AK when you can get an M4 with rails and not look retarded?
Why buy a tactical AK when you can get an M4 with rails and not look retarded?
i respect your opinion
Because I already have 2 M4's and a SR25.
I like SR25s
Guns that fire 7.62 nato are so much sexier than 5.56 pissing shit.
5.45 is fine too
.50 is pretty awesome too imo
Ntw-20.
AKs and M4s aren't the only guns in existence.
You're telling him when he has a G36K and an M14? I think he'd be aware of that.
That image is great and all, but you forgot about standardization, using standard rails is waaaay more practical since you don't need proprietary attachments. Of course, there are better ways of integrating rails than
This. Look at this. The ones on the receiver are fine, but that plate is dumb.
Also that stock looks ridiculous, both in looks and comfort. Yeah, let the AK get modernized, but do it right.
The G&G RK 104 EVO is ini my mind how modernize a AK without it looking like shit

I still really dislike rails on the AK's handguard.
Looks a hell of a lot better than the Echo 1 CPW thing.
I hate people who only accept the AK as a weapon.
It's so totally a shovel as well
It's a pretty good club.
Makes a decent golf club too.
Get rid of the "ergonomic" pistol grip, needs a ribbed upper receiver, and skeletal stock. One of those black 5.45 mags that don't curve so much would be cool too. Then it'd be acceptable.
In all seriousness, I'm sure Sweetie was referring to the AK 47 as a symbol in history.
That stock on suck a short gun is all kinds of wrong. But why the hell does a 7.62 M43 gun have a 5.45 mag? I do seem to recall 7.62 mags being made that looked like the 5.45 ones though, but I'm not sure.
IMO, handgaurd rails on the ak are shitty, the only kosher way to do rails on an AK is dustcover mounted
and i mean this
not this
lol cal gun
Don't tease me :smith:
why would they put rails on the cover WHEN THERE IS A SIDE MOUNT RIGHT THERE JUST FOR A RAIL???????
The truth right here.
Or she's like me who thinks that more than half this forum are AK Lovers, and don't accept other weapons as they are, (i.e. M4, M14, M16, etc).
The problem with that is the cover isn't a very solid mounting position. Every AK I've used (including the AKS-74U that flips open) has had some sort of wobble when it comes to the bolt cover. This is bad for keeping your optics zeroed, especially magnifying optics.
Thing is, that's an Izmash built AK (cover hinges open, the same as the AKS-74U) and is probably built to tighter tolerances than airsoft replicas.
Aside from the oldschool side mount, this is probably the best way to mount optics to an AK, providing they're modern picatinny mounting. Gas tube mounting (IE, tapco style handguards) aren't good for real weapons due to heat issues (warping plastic) unless you have something like an ultimak rail, which are really nice, but personally I'm not a fan of scout style forward mounting.
Edit - Forgot to mention the SVD style dust cover latch, which should be MUCH more solid than the old style push button.
I wouldn't use it on a RS AK that's for sure. But i'm speaking in a strictly airsoft form. If you absolutely have to have an optic there, i would much rather use a side mounted rail that has a weaver rail on top.
mounts are for the weak
real men use tape

Mounts are for people who want something to stay on their gun for longer than 5 minutes of abuse.
i know that goddamp
i was just jokin around
lol
IMO, I approve of that. If your going to rail out an AK, I think you should go all the way with something like that.
The worst thing about this is that it's an AK, the body doesn't look that great with the rest of that stuff.
That optic mount on the front is pretty nice though.
I agree. I'm an AK purist at heart, but this is certainly one of the best attempts at modernising the AK for multi-mission requirements. Not to mention the controls are all ambidextrous. Even though I LOVE AK's, the controls on them suck compared to an AR or more modern rifles.
This. Honestly, AKs aren't great guns by today's standards. People here need to start to understand that they won't be around forever, and even though their beautiful guns, we need to start thinking of other guns than it.
Tempting. Might try to build one up next year if I have the money. Looks like this JG would be the place to start. Add a M4 stock adapter, cut down the barrel and rethread the barrel, change the grip, paint it tan, add accesories then it's done.

There's also an MP5 looking charging handle on the other side if I remember correctly, but it really shouldn't be too hard to cut out a bit of the cover and make a little bit that connects an MP5 charging handle to the bolt.
I still don't see the need to use a plastic magazine as opposed to the regular magazines
