What are the chances Valve might start banning people who use this?

    Edited:

I certainly don't think they should and I think it's not very probable they ever would, but I am still a bit paranoid when it comes to account with some money spent on.

Alright, do you think you can use wireshark or your favorite packet sniffer and grab me capture of a login with Vapor and a login with regular steam on a windows machine if you have one?

I just got the same testing on OS X, same auth server as well.

I'm not sure as of yet. I shot off an email to Alfred Reynolds to get an idea of what Valve thinks about this client and the related software, but I haven't gotten a response yet.

The movie capture feature in VMware.

Yeah I also had that idea, but then other problem surfaces. They apparently ban for having multiple accounts. I don't know how often and how hard they search for such people, but having 2 accounts constantly connect from the same IP (I often play the games on the main one) would be easy to spot even for the simplest bot.

Do you realize the consequences of tabbed chat if you have more than like 25 friends?

It's pretty much impossible to communicate to people if you have more than 3 chats open let alone the 40 I often have.

Don't even bother adding it, it's absolutely worthless.
So... the developer shouldn't include an option just because you don't like the option?
An option that many people including myself love?
I uh... don't see the logic behind this one, I'm sorry.

    Edited:

Yeah, it's so stupid to not make things counter productive.

Shit, someone messaged me and I have all these chats... But who messaged me because this guy is on snooze and the other guy didn't.

Well who do I have chat windows open with?

I still don't know who messaged me, it appears I'll have to start looking through every single one...

Oh it's taken me 30+ seconds to find a single chat so that I can respond instead of just being able to click on a group of windows and then his window in 2-3 seconds.

I suppose if the drop down list flashes it might be okay but having them all in one window and having to switch between them seems less efficient than using more screen space and having a bunch of windows.

I thought it did that already?

just with a few different servers.

I'm on Fedora and Mono's on 2.6.7. I'm also positive that my login data is correct (just tried on steamcommunity.com).

I appreciate the client, and it is fanastic, but mono jives against the idea of using gnu/linux to avoid microsoft crap.

Because C# was the easiest language to rapidly develop a library that got the job done. We're completely open source to allow the possibility that someone will take our work and port it to another language of their choice.

    Edited:

Also I should mention that we're looking into the issue with being unable to log into Steam2.

There's an odd edge case happening with auth server selection, and we're trying to figure it out.

the .net framework is intended for windows.
it was later implemented for linux, etc. with mono.

    @voided
I may take up the task of porting to C(sounds fun, right?).
by then, I'm sure valve will release on linux or something.

Mono is an open-source implementation of .NET, a few Linux-centric programs use it, like Tomboy Notes.

It's also managed by Novell, who have their own Linux distro too.

    So i'd say it's fairly Open-source friendly.

You have full access to the sourcecode, so if you're THAT paranoid, then put on your tinfoil hat and check out the code for any logging features that isn't meant for debugging.
