You can find Mono's output with --debug and -v here (I didn't read the thread and this is the only time I ever bothered with Mono so I don't know if that's too much or not enough or what).
Not sure what to say about that. It looks like a terrible train wreck of stack overflows and memory exhaustion.

I don't claim to be anywhere near an expert on Mono, so I have no idea what's causing that or what you can do to fix it.

Well without --debug and -v it doesn't print anything. I think -v might just be printing what exactly it's doing, even if it's not a fail. Next I'm in Linux I'll get a result without -v and see if you can solve it from there.

I tried with straight --debug and it didn't print anything. So Mono apparently thinks nothing is wrong.

    Yeah it does.

"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Sorry for not including that, this is the actual error message. The thing I posted above is the details.

Hey is group or multi-user chat ever going to be in a future version of Vapor? I'd really like to be able to do group chats.

I've decided to hold back on a fix until some more bugs arise, I don't want to spit out lots of versions where each iteration only has a single fix.

For now just avoid using "/me ".

That can happen when the Steam server Vapor tries to login to is down.

Is it still happening? It should be a temporary thing.

I'll add some handling so that Vapor tries a different server when that happens.

Is there any chance at all that a steam GTK3 client would be developed or anyone else willing to do so? My outlook on it is like this: There is already a Steam Friends on Windows, it's called Steam and while I know it may be 'easier' to load up a lightweight client just for friends talk, it's missing out on features so for a Windows user it might not be worth it in most cases. For a Linux user, if you're going to go through the trouble of Installing Mono you may as well just install steam through WINE via playonlinux which is just as easy and provides the full gamut of features.

What's holding me back from installing this is I generally don't like Mono and it would be nice to not have to install applications that don't fit in with the Gnome HIG. I know this is probably one of those beggars can't be choosers thing but rather than see it that way, please see it as a constructive criticism in why I (Linux User) prefer to just use the regular client through WINE and some others may, too.

I realize this may of just been the fruits of working with the steam network and you were simply gracious enough to share those fruits, I'd love to be able to have a GTK3 application for it.

    Thanks for reading.

Vapor could certainly be ported to GTK using GTK#, you'll just have to find someone who has some time to do it.

What's holding me back from installing this is I generally don't like Mono and it would be nice to not have to install applications that don't fit in with the Gnome HIG. I know this is probably one of those
beggars can't be choosers thing but rather than see it that way, please see it as a constructive criticism in why I (Linux User) prefer to just use the regular client through WINE and some others may, too.

I realize this may of just been the fruits of working with the steam network and you were simply gracious enough to share those fruits, I'd love to be able to have a GTK3 application for it.

    Thanks for reading.
GTK+ would most likely be better even though it's based on Gnome 2, since it's compatible with more than just Gnome 3.
Would be stupid to just develop for only one type of desktop environment.
Though you CAN get GTK3 working on other desktop environments it just isn't always that easy.

Vapor could certainly be ported to GTK using GTK#, you'll just have to find someone who has some time to do it.
Well I can offer some Demoman hats in TF2. Heck I'd give my whole backpack for it. It's not of too too much value but should be quite a bit of metal :P

Hey guys, I've released a small update to Vapor.

You can grab the latest version (1.5) here: https://bitbucket.org/VoiDeD/steamre/downloads

    Changes include:

    * Few improvements to friend list handling, especially when refreshes occur. This should also work smoothly for people with large friends lists.
    * Initial support for displaying game invites. If someone invites you to a game, you'll see they invited you, but just not which game (for now).
    * The ability to change your friends name by right clicking your name in the window.
    * Improvements to avatar downloading.
    * Fixed issue where getting disconnected/logged out would not put the client back at the login screen.

Just used this and my password on my Steam Account was changed after I used mine to login to your Vapor thing.

I had to change it. What the fuck man.
