What we need:
That Wall 1980 footage that's restored in full on Blu-Ray
Animals Immersion Box
my biggest gripe is their lack of solo releases.
I'm pretty damn sure there's experimentation going on but they ain't got the balls to do it.
Peter Hammill releases a crapload, Robert Fripp? Peter Gabriel?
Maybe they weren't cut out to be solo artists, but Waters was definitely capable.
Hopefully my Pink Floyd book will come tomorrow, it's been about 5 weeks and it should of came 2 weeks ago.
I remember posting this one here some time ago and someone corrected me on what it actually was. It wasn't a bootleg apparently, or something.
Someone care to enlighten me again?
So I finished listening to Wish You Were Here for the first time (got the experience edition, but I'd have much rather just get the standalone version because it's cheaper and I really don't care a lot about the extra contents) and I liked it in general. Bit of a short album (I love long albums, anything above one hour because I usually listen to music while commuting and traffic in Panama can be dreadful) but really complete. I absolutely love Shine On and WYWH, Welcome to the machine and have a cigar are a bit harder to digest but I'm pretty sure they'll grow on me.
Besides this, I've only listened to DSOTM, which is pretty high up there in my top albums list. Which album should I get next? (I usually buy one record per month, when I can).
I'm interested in Animals and Atom Heart Mother (I listened to the first track of AHM, holy shit!). Anyone's opinion on Animals?
Also, the packaging of this "Experience" edition seems really lazy and poorly made. The pages have these border decorations and they get at times cut off from the page and the printing quality is disappointing.
Animals is a great album, all of the songs on it are pretty solid. While it may not as be as long as to your liking, I think you'll like it just as much as WYWH.
Dogs is the best on that one, imo.
Animals, Meddle and The Wall should be your next ones.
In no particular order.
So how 'bout them Floyds and them Pinks
Theoretically, if it is mixed correctly and nothing is out of phase, you could just use a DAW to combine both stereo channels
I did it with my Doors album, and it worked wonders because the stereo mix on that is just awful, hard panning everything left and right.
Funny, I also used to listen to a lot of Floyds , but not anymore. Still it's nice to come back to them once in a while.
It was probably been said already, but are the Immersion sets worth any attention? I mean music-wise, I don't care much for scrafs.
I love this one:
so i just got the "discovery" edition, which is all the studio albums remastered, plus that new best of album, foot in the door.
Listening to the Discovery version of Animals again, since I've only listened to that version once before.
I really like the mixing, doesn't sound that different, but feels very nice and soft for some reason.
I started listening to Pink Floyd about 6 months ago and never looked back, it's pretty much all I listen to now. Every day I have to get my fill of it.
Hey, i didn't know there was a thread dedicated to Pink floyd. Nice to see someone with a sense of music like i have.
Pink Floyd and the Beatles are the two sinful bands that you should not like too much in my book
as far as I've seen they're the two bands that breed fanbases that seem to never want to listen to any other music but pink floyd or the beatles which is just awful
nah, noone should feel guilty for listening to popular music.
But bragging about it is kinda lame.
I'm not saying they shouldn't like them, I mean look at me I think I'm on the top 10 posters for this thread or close to it, I love Pink Floyd
but yeah it shouldn't be all someone listens to. I had some dude I knew at uni who was always like "beatles or get out maaaan" and had all this beatles merch and never listened to anything else, was like shit dude, there's so much good music out there, listen to it
that's an extreme fantatic bro, that doesn't happen to everybody.
tbh it seems like it happens to dadrock and metal fans the most that do this obsessive fanwankery
lissen to all the pank floyds
pieper at the gaytes of don
sacerful of seecrets
atom hart mother
dark side of the moon
